Welcome to Grade 5th Eureka Math!
Teacher: Ms. Brogdon Room #: 41
Goal: To help all students understand mathematics and connect it to real world, preparing them to solve problems they have not encountered.
We will explore the following modules: Module 1: Place Value and Decimal Fractions Module 2: Multi-Digit Whole Number and Decimal Fraction Operations Module 3: Addition and Subtraction of Fractions Module 4: Multiplication and Subtraction of Fractions and Decimal Fractions Module 5: Addition and Multiplication with Volume and Area Module 6: Problem Solving with the Coordinate Plane
100-90% = A 89-80% = B 79-70% = C 69-60% = D 59-Below = F
Any assignment turned in without a name will be credited 0%.
Interim Progress Reports are given 4x/year.
*SHOW ALL WORK AND COMPLETE ALL ASSIGNMENTS USING PENCIL!
Parents, please monitor your child’s homework. Check for understanding, completion, and neatness.
The following items can be donated throughout the school’s year: copy paper, hand sanitizer, Kleenex, and Clorox Sanitizing Wipes!!!!!!

- Grades are determined by an average of the following weighted items: tests/quizzes – 40%, graded assignments/classwork/projects -50%,
100-90% = A 89-80% = B 79-70% = C 69-60% = D 59-Below = F
Any assignment turned in without a name will be credited 0%.
Interim Progress Reports are given 4x/year.
- Assessments are given to assess student knowledge of material presented in class. Tests are cumulative /quizzes are current. Work samples are collected and graded after each concept has been presented and practiced.
- Homework is generally assigned M-TH and checked during class. Students will receive a grade as follows:
- completed: 100%
- incomplete: 50% (work completed in pen, >50 % completion, answers only)
- missing : 0%

Parents, please monitor your child’s homework. Check for understanding, completion, and neatness.
- Participation is a must! Students must take notes and complete all assignments. Periodical notebook checks will be graded as classwork.
- Attendance is very important and your child must be in school on time each day. School policy requires a written excuse if your child is absent.
- Supplies are needed throughout the school year.

- Here are the Facts! Students are required to know their multiplication/division facts fluently. Students who are lacking this basic skill will struggle. Multiplication/Division Facts should be practiced nightly!!!

Study Tips
- Review and study class notes and outlines daily.
- Know the basic math facts and divisibility rules fluently.
- Complete all homework and missed class assignments.
- 20-30 min. of math study per night

Homework Notice!
Homework is prescribed on a lesson to lesson as needed basis. All students are responsible for documenting homework in his or her notebook or planner on a daily basis. Math assignments are not given in advance, so please refer to the Parent Letter / Study Guide for additional study material. Also, all assignments are posted in advance on the Powerschool system. If you have not gained access to this system it is imperative that you do so as soon as possible. Please contact the main office for more information.
